After 8 years in New Zealand as the leader of the band The Mint Chicks, Kody Nielson unveils his new project Opossom with the captivating Electric Hawaii. Electric Hawaii is presented as a new challenge, as it was written and recorded with very few collaborators, aside from Bic Runga's vocals or Chris Nelson's (Kody's father) trumpet. Everything else comes from Kody's tormented mind, hands, and especially his heart. He recorded and mixed the album himself, with Howie Windberg taking care of the mastering. Electric Hawaii is not the result of a former rock band member embarking on a solo project. It is a unique beast, an exploration of Kody's musical journey; an album about love, drugs, and freedom.
