"Open Sesame" is the first album by trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, who was 22 years old at the time, recorded on June 19, 1960, by Rudy Van Gelder in his studio in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, and released on the Blue Note label in 1960. It features performances by Hubbard, Tina Brooks, McCoy Tyner, Sam Jones, and Clifford Jarvis. The Penguin Guide to Jazz included Open Sesame in a selected "Core Collection" and summarized the album as "a superb Blue Note set." All Music gave it a rating of four and a half stars.
