But it was alongside Art Blakey that this virtuoso encountered Hard Bop and became one of its most prominent representatives. Recorded between 1965 and 1966, the album 'Blue Spirit' highlights Freddie Hubbard's mastery of harmonies as well as the chemistry between the trumpeter and James Spaulding (saxophone/flute).
