Networker - Vinyle Bleu Opaque

Description

Atlanta post-punk trio return with a lush new album Here's Networker, Omni's new album. Their sound is still defined by sparse drumming, controlled bass, blazing guitar, and nonchalant yet assertive vocals. But from the first notes of "Sincerely Yours," it's immediately noticeable that Networker sounds much more "HI-FI" than their two previous albums, Deluxe (2016) and Multi-task (2017). The Gang of Four and Wire riffs are still present, but the production is lusher and the harmony even more expansive. Despite a nod to 70s and 80s sounds, what emerges is a record fully rooted in the here and now. The band, Philip Frobos on bass and vocals and Frankie Broyles on guitar, drums, and keyboards, returned to the studio in South Georgia with long-time collaborator Nathaniel Higgins, where they had also recorded Multi-task and the more recent single "Delicacy." While their earlier records had a more "post-punk" sound, Networker is a fusion of the best sounds of the 70s and 80s, all arranged with (mostly) guitars, bass, and drums for our contemporary era.
