Aethermead, their brand new album and twentieth opus, sees the band revisiting the sounds of their early days, while pushing artistic boundaries through their iconic style of pop and indie rock. Recognized for its unique and prolific production, the album was recorded at Brooklyn's Honey Jar Studios by Kevin Barnes, the principal songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, with sound engineer Drew Vandenberg (Faye Webster, Toro y Moi). The result shines with indie pop elements reminiscent of their 2004 album, *Satanic Panic in the Attic*, as well as the raw, live energy of *Lousy With Sylvianbriar* (2013). Inspired in part by a recent move to Brooklyn, New York, and a desire for community, the album marks a change in Barnes' daily life. Its title refers to a part of Prospect Park called Nethermead, where Barnes walks his dog every day.Since the groundbreaking brilliance of their 2007 album, Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?, to a steady stream of boundary-pushing releases, Of Montreal has remained a bold band, capable of transforming sounds with the same ease with which they create catchy anthems as they explore surreal and experimental textures. The band's prolific output has earned them numerous appearances on late-night shows, The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, as well as brilliant collaborations with artists such as Solange, Janelle Monáe, and Jon Brion. On stage, they transform their concerts into immersive spectacles of color, costumes, and cathartic energy. The band has performed all over the world, while amassing hundreds of millions of streams worldwide. With a new tour in preparation, Of Montreal continues to celebrate its legacy while boldly moving forward.
