Description

After a release in 2017 on the fiery Lyon label s.k. records and a cassette released by lost dogs entertainment, the duo OD Bongo — aka Edouard Ribouillault and Amédée de Murcia — teams up with Carton Records, Zamzamrec, prix libre record, and basalte to present bongoville, the new episode of their sonic saga. For nearly ten years, OD Bongo has been traversing the stages of Europe, often late into the night, armed with drum machines, samplers, and synthesizers. The duo's raw setup is designed for instinctive interaction, allowing them to sculpt their mutant timbres and beats. Bongoville tells this energy, in a story tinged with hazy techno, rusty dub, and industrial trap influenced by juke & gqom. The rhythms bounce, accelerate, disintegrate, creak, and ultimately explode in a cloud of laughing gas. In this frantic stop-motion race, chaos comes alive with heavy reverb: a possessed carousel sketching saturated colors and playful distortions, where the loop reigns, where delays stretch, and where the bass saturates.
