Insane Ghosts

Marie-Pierre Rixain and David Fenech form an unexpected and fascinating duo that overturns the conventions of alternative music. Together, they dive into an unclassifiable sonic exploration, blending industrial downtempo, straight kicks, cold percussion, field recordings, and electric guitar feedback. Their music, although often dark, reveals bursts of warmth inspired by English dub, reminiscent of an imaginary meeting between The Bug and This Heat. One might also think of the universe of La Perversita by Hector Zazou & Co. Their debut album, Insane Ghosts, scheduled for spring 2025 under the Parisian label Hublotone, was recorded in 2024 in the intimacy of a bedroom. Mixed by David Fenech, it also features the participation of Alexandre Berly (La Mverte) on the track "Toi en Moi," adding a sub and experimental touch. The mastering is done by the legend Noel Summerville, whose sonic imprint graces cult albums by The Clash, My Bloody Valentine, Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Finally, the album cover showcases a striking work by French photographer and filmmaker Antoine d'Agata (Magnum Photos). This poetic and abstract image adds an extra dimension to Insane Ghosts, a project that is already shaping up to be a must-have for fans of bold and introspective music.
