Teteu, also known as Normal Nada the Krakmaxter, is one of the most eccentric figures in Lisbon's underground music scene. He has operated under several pseudonyms, including Qraqmaxter, CiclOFF, and Erre Mente. A talented visual artist and composer, he is known for developing a philosophical mythology with his drawings, primarily using a ballpoint pen to sketch elaborate projects in an animated style. Normal Nada is Teteu's most enduring project, and nine years after a series of singles on WARP and the EP Transmutação Cerebral, he is finally releasing his long-awaited debut album. Tribal Progressive Heavy Metal materializes in Nada's meta-kuduro multiverse, developed from his deep knowledge of African and Portuguese musical forms. Years ago, he was a recognized archivist and historian of the genre, sharing documents and mixes alongside his original tracks through his blog, and although his online presence has faded, his production pace has not changed. His tracks are rooted in Angolan kuduro and tarraxinha structures, but Normal Nada uses them only as a starting point, poetically layering elements of trap, bass music, heavy metal, and ambient to tell a personal and unique story. Born and raised in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, Normal Nada emigrated to Portugal at the age of 13 and lived for many years in the residential neighborhood of San Antonio Dos Cavaleiros in Lisbon. Teteu's compositions are a spicy manifestation of Lisbon's batida style patchwork, establishing a direct link to the vibrant musical heritage of West Africa. Now based between Guinea-Bissau and Lisbon, his music reflects this extensive knowledge and energy, with a 360-degree vision of the complex assembly of cultures and conflicts in the world.
