Preface (1991)

Description

During a European tour by HADES, it became clear that the band would soon split up. Guitarist Dan Lorenzo formed Non-Fiction with Dan Nastasi (MUCKY PUP, DOG EAT DOG), who then recorded an EP. However, the lineup carousel was about to turn again, and HADES and WATCHTOWER singer Alan Tecchio and bassist Kevin Bolembach (later SEVEN WITCHES, JACK FROST, among others) joined the band. In 1991, the debut album "Preface" was released on Grand Slamm Records, and in Europe on Steamhammer/SPV. At the time, many fans of HADES and WATCHTOWER must have been surprised by the doom metal sound, while fans of the style ignored it without the Internet. It is astonishing that some trademarks of HADES can still be found in the music of NON-FICTION (see also the 1995 reunion album by HADES). The cover artwork, reminiscent of the splendor of the graphic design company Hipgnosis, gives the album a perfect aura and recalls the groove of old LED ZEPPELIN. HADES and WATCHTOWER (with Alan Tecchio) are both - sporadically - active again today, and many fans hope that Non-Fiction will also make another appearance. The musical continuation, although somewhat more modern, is currently provided by Dan Lorenzo's band, PATRIARCHS IN BLACK, which is currently enjoying great success in the United States.
