Preface (1991)

Description

During a European tour by HADES, it became clear that the band would soon break up. Guitarist Dan Lorenzo formed Non-Fiction with Dan Nastasi (MUCKY PUP, DOG EAT DOG), who then recorded an EP. However, the lineup carousel would spin again, and HADES and WATCHTOWER vocalist Alan Tecchio and bassist Kevin Bolembach (later SEVEN WITCHES, JACK FROST, among others) joined the band. In 1991, the debut album "Preface" was released on Grand Slamm Records, and in Europe on Steamhammer/SPV. At the time, many HADES and WATCHTOWER fans must have been surprised by the doom metal sound, while fans of that style were unaware of it without the Internet. It is astonishing that some trademarks of HADES can still be found in the music of NON-FICTION (see also HADES' 1995 reunion album). The cover art, reminiscent of the splendor of the graphic design company Hipgnosis, gives the album a perfect aura and recalls the groove of old LED ZEPPELIN. HADES and WATCHTOWER (with Alan Tecchio) are both - sporadically - active again today, and many fans hope that Non-Fiction will also make a new appearance. The musical continuation, though a bit more modern, is currently provided by Dan Lorenzo's band PATRIARCHS IN BLACK, which is currently enjoying great success in the United States.
