It's A Wonderful Lie (1996)

During a European tour by HADES, it became clear that the band would soon break up. Guitarist Dan Lorenzo formed Non-Fiction with Dan Nastasi (MUCKY PUP, DOG EAT DOG), who then recorded an EP. However, the lineup carousel was to spin again, and HADES and WATCHTOWER vocalist Alan Tecchio and bassist Kevin Bolembach (later SEVEN WITCHES, JACK FROST, among others) came on board. In 1991, the debut album "Preface" was released on Grand Slamm Records, in Europe on Steamhammer/SPV. At the time, many HADES and WATCHTOWER fans must have been surprised by the doom metal direction, while fans of that style were unaware of it without the Internet. It is astonishing that some of HADES' trademarks can still be found in NON-FICTION's music (see also HADES' 1995 reunion album). In 1992, the second album "In The Know" was released, which is considered a fan favorite and was only released on CD at the time. Once again, the cover art recalls the work of Hipgnosis (Pink Floyd, UFO, etc.), which also applies to "It's A Wonderful Lie," released in 1996. The band's third and final album is a bit more experimental but remains in the same style. Since Hades was active again at that time, the subject of Non-Fiction was unfortunately set aside. Today, HADES and WATCHTOWER (with Alan Tecchio) are sporadically active again, and many fans hope that Non-Fiction will make a comeback. The musical continuation, albeit a bit more modern, is currently provided by Dan Lorenzo's band PATRIARCHS IN BLACK, which is enjoying great success in the United States.
