It's A Wonderful Lie (1996)

Description

During a European tour by HADES, it became clear that the band would soon be breaking up. Guitarist Dan Lorenzo formed Non-Fiction with Dan Nastasi (MUCKY PUP, DOG EAT DOG), who then recorded an EP. However, the lineup carousel was set to turn again, and HADES and WATCHTOWER singer Alan Tecchio and bassist Kevin Bolembach (later SEVEN WITCHES, JACK FROST, among others) came on board. In 1991, the debut album “Preface” was released on Grand Slamm Records, and in Europe on Steamhammer/SPV. At the time, many fans of HADES and WATCHTOWER must have been surprised by the doom metal direction, while fans of this style were unaware of it without the Internet. It is astonishing that some trademarks of HADES can still be found in NON-FICTION’s music (see also the HADES reunion album in 1995). In 1992, the second album “In The Know” was released, which is considered the fans’ favorite and was only released on CD at the time. Once again, the cover art is reminiscent of Hipgnosis’ work (Pink Floyd, UFO, etc.), which also applies to “It’s A Wonderful Lie”, released in 1996. The band’s third and final album is a little more experimental, but remains in the same style. As Hades was active again at that time, the subject of Non-Fiction was unfortunately put aside. Today, HADES and WATCHTOWER (with Alan Tecchio) are once again sporadically active, and many fans hope that Non-Fiction will make another appearance. The musical continuation, albeit a little more modern, is currently provided by Dan Lorenzo’s band, PATRIARCHS IN BLACK, which is enjoying great success in the United States.
