Love Supreme

Description

“Trust, trust, that’s the theme of my record and I think everyone can identify with it,” says award-winning German-Nigerian artist NNEKA about her new album Love Supreme, due out on February 11, 2022. The singer, hailed by the Sunday Times as the new Lauryn Hill, has released her first full-length since the mini-album My Fairy Tales, which came out six years ago on the same label. The thirteen tracks on Love Supreme show both continuity and change. While This Life, the album’s only uptempo single, About Guilt, Walk Away and a few others were written and produced with her longtime partner Farhot, or With You with Mounir Maarouf, created for the majority of My Fairy Tales, she also worked with Berlin producer/writer Unik (Tea?) and Klimperboy (Love Supreme) as well as Hamburg’s BASS productions (Maya, Yahweh). It is time for Love Supreme because this unique artist has always been ahead of her time. Since 2011, the year her last proper album Soul Is Heavy was released, a new generation of Afro-American and Afro-European artists has emerged, referred to by the same name Afro-Punk after the festival. Musically eclectic, they present themselves in a more relaxed and alternative way, not only in terms of clothing and hairstyles, but also beliefs and general interests. What Nneka did from the very beginning! Nneka has released three previous albums. Her 2009 single Heartbeat earned her a UK top 20 and was also recognized by Rita Ora for sampling her #1 UK hit R.I.P. She won a MOBO for Best African Act in 2009 and appeared on the David Letterman Show and BET’s 106 & Park. In 2014, Nneka joined the jury for the fourth season of Nigerian Idol. Nneka has played nearly 300 concerts in Europe and more than 100 concerts in the US and Canada in front of more than 1,000,000 spectators in over 35 countries.
