Chantre, with notably the keyboardist Bugge Wesseltoft, of the Nordic electro-jazz (or nu jazz) movement that has marked jazz since the mid-90s, the famous Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer, releases with ''Switch'' a dense and intense album. It is at the head of a sextet that he redefines this time the contours of his music. We find on 'Switch' this alternation of ethereal atmospheres inherited from the combined influences of Miles Davis and Jon Hassel - his two masters to play - and sonic explosions that build, it's his "signature", a very distinctive and fascinating universe. Nils Petter Molvaer attempts here to discover the clarity of new structures more oriented towards song (but without a singer) and once again expand the boundaries of the genre to new limits.
