Nightports With Tom Herbert

Description

« Nightports w/ Tom Herbert » is the third in a series of albums created in collaboration by musicians/producers Adam Martin and Mark Slat, to be released on The Leaf label, following Nightports w/ Matthew Bourne in 2018 and Nightports w/ Betamax in 2020. Tom Herbert is known as the bassist for the bands Polar Bear and The Invisible, nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, and has become a sought-after collaborator and session musician, working notably with Adele, Lana Del Rey, and more recently The Smile.
Nightports w/ Tom Herbert highlights Herbert's mastery of the double bass. As with all of Nightports' work, the album deserves careful listening. "Through our collaboration, we wanted to show different facets of the instrument and reveal the true details of Tom's playing," notes Slater. "In our approach, we wanted to showcase everything the double bass is and can be, and put it at the center of the stage...".
