Glassworlds, Volume 1 : Œuvres pour piano et transcriptions
Description
It is the meeting of local and European clarinets for danceable, classical and contemporary music, written and improvised. The idea comes through the Berlin branch of the Goethe Institute, while Claudio Puntin sets out in search of master musicians rooted in Balkan traditions and open to exchange. He tracks down Stavros Pazarentsis in Greece, Slobodan Trkulja from Novi Sad in Serbia, Sergiu Balutel from Moldova, Oguz Büyükberber from Istanbul and, on the jazz side, his accomplice Tobias Klein, as well as Orlin Pamukov from Bulgaria. Each artist offers a few pieces and the marriage takes place. The airy, sinuous clarinet is launched. It becomes orchestral. We fall into complex and contagious rhythms. We slow down, sadly, nostalgically. We glance toward the most Eastern, jazz, serious music or completely crazy music, rhythmic and funny like in a cartoon. This record is a treasure.
