After his band The Birthday Party broke up, Nick Cave surrounded himself with new musicians (Blixa Bargeld, guitarist from Einstürzende Neubauten, guitarist Hugo Race, and former Magazine bassist Barry Adamson), and the band Nick Cave & The Cavemen was born in 1983, later transforming into Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. From Her to Eternity was recorded in London and released by Mute Records in 1984. Upon its release, it received unanimous critical acclaim and is recognized as one of the essential albums of the 80s.
