Niagara

Description

First official reissue of this German funk-groove gem. Featuring legends of krautrock like Udo Lindenberg and Keith Forsey. A legendary jewel from the most experimental facet of German pop in the 70s.
It was more of a project than a real band formed by the German jazz drumming legend Klaus Weiss. He had previously worked with another jazz legend from his homeland, Klaus Doldinger, and had made a name for himself in the German jazz scene of the 60s and 70s. His work with NIAGARA in 1971 is the result of the vision to create an orchestra made up solely of drummers and percussionists. Although there are no regular melodic instruments on this album, the two long compositions are arranged in such a captivating way that they are catchy and memorable. Among the cult drummers featured on this album are Udo Lindenberg and session hero Keith Forsey. What these two compositions offer is a constantly pulsing rhythmic hell, a maelstrom of grooves and different sounds.
