'Altar' is the second album by NewDad, a band from Galway led by singer and songwriter Julie Dawson. Driven by an alt-rock sound with grunge undertones, the album directly tackles the anxieties of the contemporary world, between generational disillusionment, simmering anger, and moments of withdrawal. Dawson's lyrics, nourished by imagery linked to water and religion, extend the universe introduced on their first album "Madra". Formed in Ireland, NewDad draws inspiration from The Cure, Pixies, or My Bloody Valentine as well as current artists like Big Thief or Beabadoobee. In less than two years, the band has established itself as a rising figure on the alternative scene, even winning over Robert Smith.
