VOLUME II (vinyl)

Description

New Vogue is a Montreal band made up of members from Sonic Avenues (Dirtnap Records, Taken By Surprise) and Priors (Slovenly, Drink and Drive Records), with Max and Chance at the heart of the lineup. It was in the winter of 2018 that the two members first came together as New Vogue to record some demos that Max had written a few days earlier. Armed with a microphone, a Tascam console, a Space Echo, and a few other effects, they recorded the 6 tracks themselves in Max's apartment, marking the official beginning of the band. A few weeks later, the band's first EP was released on Anti's YouTube channel, a reference in the world of eclectic and punk music. The physical version of this first collection was released on cassette under Sound Salvation Music – Max's independent label. The live formation of New Vogue emerged in the summer of 2018 when the original members wanted to bring their art to the stage. Cameron (guitarist) and Taylor (drummer) from Barn Burner - another Montreal band - then joined the lineup. This iteration of New Vogue persisted until Taylor's departure in late 2019; a breakup that coincided with the beginning of the pandemic. Put on standby, New Vogue nevertheless did not abandon the desire to continue the momentum of the first EP. It was in the winter of 2020 that Max started writing and recording the tracks for the mini-LP - 'Volume Deux' - which is being released under the French label Casbah Records. The live band, now composed of members from Priors, Sonic Avenues, and Kamikazes (Max's first band), will make its new stage debut following the release of Volume Deux.
