British indie-rock darlings, The Kooks, are back with *Never/Know*, their most accomplished album to date, due out on May 9th. After an 18-year career, the band has chosen to reinvent themselves by returning to the very essence of their music. Hugh Harris describes this approach as "a shared vision to bring joy and love through well-written and well-performed pop." To recapture the energy of their early days, Luke Pritchard kept the recording a secret, leading the musicians to believe they were only making demos. This approach allowed for complete spontaneity and a return to their best form. As Pritchard summarizes: "We regained our confidence by letting things be, without striving for perfection."
