After the success of 'Roots', violinist Nemanja Radulovic returns with an album dedicated to Beethoven. This new recording presents the heart of the violin repertoire - the famous Violin Concerto and the Kreutzer Sonata in a new version for violin and string ensemble arranged by Nemanja Radulovic. "For years, Beethoven's Concerto has been what I most enjoy playing and listening to; it is a piece that has made me mature over time. After my arrival in France at the age of fourteen, I found the score and began to play it. Certain passages resonated very strongly within me, evoking the nostalgia of my childhood in Serbia and the joy of my new life in France." "This album presents the heart of the violin repertoire - Beethoven's Violin Concerto and the Kreutzer Sonata," explains Nemanja Radulovic. Although these Beethoven masterpieces have been recorded countless times, Radulovic's approach to each of them contains an element of innovation. For the concerto, he expanded Double Sens, the chamber ensemble he founded in 2008. "I wanted to preserve the particular character of Double Sens as an ensemble that plays without a conductor and explores new paths of interpretation (...). In our recording of the concerto, we wanted to convey a whole range of emotions: courage, risk, joy, love, rage, sadness, nostalgia, the magic brought by serenity and tenderness." Rather than playing the grand Kreutzer Sonata alongside a pianist, he performs it here in his own arrangement for solo violin and five-part string ensemble. "While remaining faithful to Beethoven, I allowed myself to exercise my imagination."
