After taking the crazy bet of creating the concept album "The Tragic Tale Of A Genius," MLCD has garnered numerous accolades over the past two years: Best Album and Belgian Artist of the Year at the Octaves de La Musique, Belgian Cultural Personality of the Year*. Driven by the song "What Are You Waiting for" featured in the game "Little Big Planet2," the band embarked on a tour of over two years that took them to Canada and England, where the album received rave reviews and was named "Album of The Week" in the Sunday Times. Barely emerging from their odyssey, MLCD returned to composing and isolated themselves for long months in chalets in the heart of nature and in a Mas in Provence, driven by the desire to renew themselves, to seek new paths, to take the opposite of "Tragic Tale." Everything became clear during the meeting with producer Luuk Cox (Shameboy, Girls in Hawai, Stromae). He allowed MLCD to reveal their true essence. Recorded over 6 months, first at the legendary Studios ICP and then at Abbey Road, Cox gave wings to the now quintet, which has just welcomed a new guitarist/keyboardist. The result is a resolutely modern album, where MLCD explores both analog keyboards and new technologies, shaping layer after layer this raw and subtle album, where every detail matters. This attention to detail is also paramount in the visual aspect of their performances. To defend The Smoke Behind The Sound on stage, MLCD called upon set designer Nicolas Oliver (Kiss&Cry by Jaco Van Dormael) and motion designer Hervé Jungblut, and collaborated with Nicolas Guiot (César and Magritte for Best Short Film 2013) for the realization of the haunting clip "Fire," filmed during a night outing in London.
