It is in London that the story of the Parisian group MY Concubine begins. Eric Falce, a disbarred lawyer, songwriter and founder of the group, meets there again with Pascale Kendall, with whom a few years earlier he had made song demos. Pascale is then married to producer Paul Kendall (Wire, Nick Cave, DepecheMode), who suggests they finish these tracks in the Mute Records studios. A fantastic opportunity one does not turn down. A nine-track album is made but not released commercially. However, the emerging radio station Le Mouv spots one of the album’s tracks, “Trois petits singes,” which enters the playlist in heavy rotation. The CDs placed in shops in Paris sell like hotcakes. Over the course of the various albums and collaborations, Eric Falce, aka MY Concubine, has built a reputation as a songwriter with finely crafted, introspective and caustic lyrics. A quality of writing and composition that will also convince actor Denis Lavant to appear in the video for “Dragon” (album “Quelqu'un dans mon genre”) and to do the splits between Samuel Becket and Bruce Lee, whom the song and video pay tribute to. This video will be shown exclusively in MK2 cinemas. The new album “Comme elles s'en vont” will be released in September 2022 and will be the first album on which Eric Falce sings alone. An album in which he speaks to us about love in a less roundabout way. A cynical take on this state that runs through us, seen from different angles: when it works, when it works less well, when it does not work at all. Love on the run, between two people, self-love, dreamed love, love of life, of the world, love in life and love of others are the themes found on this record. Brigitte Fontaine also dropped by to contribute a little something on this album, on the track “L'eschatologie”.
