A classically trained vocalist and self-taught instrumentalist, Shara Nova has been creating enchanting music under the name My Brightest Diamond since 2006. She contributed to Sufjan Stevens' album Illinois and has toured with him on occasion. Over the years, her project has produced five innovative albums, each showcasing a different musical landscape, always centered around Shara's distinctive voice. Inspired by Sinéad O'Connor's iconic performance on SNL, where she addressed the issue of violence against children, urging viewers to "fight the real enemy," Shara Nova poured her emotions into a raw demo - the title "Fight the Real Terror" - which opens the album in its original form. Shara worked with Tom Schick at Wilco's studio, The Loft. He insisted on keeping the raw demo, doing overdubbing and re-amping. More than just a collection of songs, Fight the Real Terror is a call to action and a testament to the transformative power of music. Shara's powerful vocals and her genre-blending compositions are both intimate and expansive, urging listeners to confront their fears, embrace their vulnerabilities, and fight for a better world.
