"Something had to change," said Mike Herrera, singer/bassist and chief songwriter of MxPx, about the band's situation after 13 years, three labels, six albums, and a career retrospective DVD/CD. "We were either going to die slowly or do something extraordinary, dig deeper than ever before." The result was Panic, their first new studio album since Before Everything and After in 2003 and their first effort for SideOneDummy after their B Movie/AC/EP DVD and CD collection. Produced by the legendary Gavin MacKillop (Sugarcult, Goo Goo Dolls, P.I.L., Toad the Wet Sprocket) in the band's home studio in Bremerton, Washington, Panic channels the classic teenage angst of the band into a true "A-punk-alypse Now." It offers a glimpse of a world approaching critical mass, but with renewed energy and hope not only for the future of music but also for our generation.
