Sunday Mixtape

Description

WEWANTSOUNDS’ sound hunters are back with a very special Sunday morning selection and a sound mix of handpicked tracks. SUNDAY MIXTAPE is a selection of sunny pop, indie grooves, languid disco, freshly served electro. All of it seasoned with a few cult rarities and a touch of jazz. Sunday Mixtape, the ideal sonic potion to get you back on your feet after a long night of partying. Most of the tracks on this mixtape are still little known beyond circles of connoisseurs and feature up-and-coming young artists, with the exception of English diva ALA.Ni and the recent success of her melancholic jazz album, or L'Impératrice, the future French disco-pop sensation, who is generating more and more buzz. By unveiling these recent tracks, Parisian specialist Olivier Pellerin creates a colorful and relaxed atmosphere throughout the 16 tracks that make up this mixtape. You’ll hear the new wave singer Laure Briard, the groovy American duo Bones & Beeker, the minimal house producers Roscius and Shigeto, as well as Domenique Dumont and their buzzy Balearic rhythms. Sunday Mixtape also features a few cult gems such as "Farewell to Wendo" by Mock & Toof, "Hoping" by Louie Austen or "Still You" by Justine & The Victorian Punks, a New York disco rarity from 1979 by French muse Justine and avant-jazz saxophonist Peter Gordon, a frequent collaborator of Arthur Russell. This laid-back journey ends with two little jazz gems by Billie Holiday and Bob McFadden as the crowning touch to a selection with invigorating, sunny sensuality. Sunday Mixtape will make you hope the day never ends.
