Armageddon was formed in 1974, and their self-titled debut album, Armageddon, released in 1975, was recorded in England and published in the United States by A&M Records. The original album sleeve notes use the term "supergroup," as their lineup consisted of drummer Bobby Caldwell (a former member of Captain Beyond), singer Keith Relf (who had been the leader of The Yardbirds and co-founder of Renaissance), guitarist Martin Pugh (from Steamhammer), and bassist Louis Cennamo (also a former member of Renaissance and Steamhammer).
