The collection "Le Chant des fleuves" offers to explore the course of music that flourishes along the ancestral waters of mythical rivers. The Mississippi is the second volume (after The Nile released in 2012). The Mississippi River has inspired the artists featured on this second box set, which offers us a cosmopolitan mix of music. It includes the blues, cajun, and zydeco from the Bayou, the jazz breath of New Orleans, the rock and soul of Memphis, but also the folk and rap from the cities and countryside of the states crossed by the river: from Minnesota in the North to Louisiana in the South. The Mississippi reveals tracks recorded mainly in the last 10 years. The majority of the artists featured on this box set are still active and make us vibrate in the various bars and clubs that line the Mississippi River. From Zachary Richard to the Rebirth Brass Band, including Big Jack Johnson who opens the box set with "Katrina" dedicated to the victims of the 2005 hurricane, these tracks are the work of dynamic, talented, and original musicians.
