In 2007, Caleb Braaten, founder of Sacred Bones Records, began to unearth rare and obscure tracks of post-punk, deathrock, and dark punk for a future compilation. Seven years later, these tracks are finally released on vinyl, CD, and digital format under the title *Killed By Deathrock Vol. 1*. Bands from around the world are featured on this compilation, from the relatively well-known Scots of Twisted Nerve to the Italian band Move, "completely unfindable on Google," along with a wide range of American and European groups. What all these songs have in common, aside from their dark and icy atmosphere, is that they are masterpieces of deathrock history that have not been heard by enough people — until now.
