Everything is Shit: Punk in Brussels 1977-79

Description

An incredible energy took over Brussels at the dawn of the 80s. Concert halls were few, and everyone knew each other by sight in this small punk-rock scene. The starting point that brought everyone together was Belgium's first punk festival at Vieux Saint-Job on March 18, 1978. Although the major influences were English (The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Buzzcocks, Crass), strong ties with the Parisian scene existed (Metal Urbain, Asphalt Jungle...) particularly thanks to the language. The scene had been bubbling for two years, and almost all the music was recorded over a period of about four years. Bands had a short lifespan, and members moved from one lineup to another without much hesitation. Chainsaw, X-Pulsion, and Streets notably gave birth to Digital Dance, Snowy Red, The Names, and Pseudocode.
