This first volume of a groundbreaking triptych helped popularize the Chicago blues sound in the mid-1960s and inspired numerous rock artists. This 180g single vinyl reissue has been all-analog remastered from the original stereo tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Originally produced in 1965 by legendary historian, musician, and author Samuel Charters for the Vanguard label, this album features recordings by Junior Wells (with Buddy Guy as a guest), J.B. Hutto, and Otis Spann, each embodying the distinctive electric sound of the "Windy City": electric guitars, amplified harmonica, and often a rhythm section and piano.
