Mule Jenny is the new project of Étienne Gaillochet (We Insist!, Zarboth). 'All these songs of love and Death'. The album was composed through extensive experimentation, alone in the studio and with complete freedom. Moving away from the benchmarks and guidelines set by We Insist! and Zarboth, each song skillfully surprises with complex rhythms and unusual harmonies, all while maintaining a song format and without losing the vocal and melodic thread. There was only one constraint during recording: no MIDI, and everything played alone. Through this, E. Gaillochet was able to experiment with familiar instruments that have always attracted him, primarily the guitar, which provided the starting point for each track on the album. Then, for arrangement purposes, he also used the vibraphone, keyboards, and, of course, the essential bass guitar. The result is an album full of vocal intertwining, much softer and more opulent than his previous works. These new experiences and discoveries have provided a different perspective and a new freshness to his long-standing relationship with music. The lyrics cover a wide range of subjects, often in an unconventional and non-literal way: age, the Orient, the end of Western democracy, love, the dictator Joseph Stalin, madness, death, words. About the artist: Drummer, singer, and co-composer of the band We Insist!, Etienne Gaillochet toured for over 20 years in France, Germany, Benelux, Japan, etc. The last album 'Wax and Wane' was released by Vicious Circle Records in 2017. At the same time, he works with many other bands (Perio, Margaret Catcher, Nosfell, Blair, etc.). In 2009, he formed the unclassifiable band ZARBOTH with guitarist Phil Reptil, which also tours regularly. Their latest album 'Grand Barnum all bloom' was released in May 2021 by PeeWee music. In 2015, he participated as drummer and singer in the WieBo show by Cie DCA-Decouflé at the Philharmonie de Paris. In parallel with the release of the Mule Jenny album, Etienne has conceived a show combining contemporary dance and live music, featuring 3 dancers and 3 musicians. In creative residency for the entire 21/22 season, the show 'La Ligne Pointillée...' will be performed for the first time in Tours on May 17, 2022, and will then go on tour. Also a teacher and speaker, his guiding principle is based on pulsation and independence, particularly between singing and instrument. He was also the host of a weekly music show on Radio Libertaire: 'Des Oreilles Avec Des Trous,' which aired for 13 years until 2019.
