The current lineup of Mountain Movers has been playing together for over ten years now, having made their debut with a series of singles released between 2011 and 2013, but it was only with Death Magic in 2015 that the band's potential became evident: Mountain Movers are a force of nature. The camaraderie and sensitivity to each other's playing have only grown over time, crystallizing on their three albums for Trouble In Mind. Their ninth album, Walking After Dark, finds a balance between the two strengths of the band: lyrical compositions and the group's long improvisations. The members effortlessly exchange and switch between instruments, having taken advantage of the downtime during lockdown to write and record each jam at home. These tapes were eventually edited and sequenced to form Walking After Dark, a double album that balances brilliance with experimental serenity. In many ways, the duality of Walking After Dark resembles a fusion between Neil Young from the "On The Beach" era and the collective deliriums of Amon Düül, drawing inspiration from the "incorporeality" of free music and embellishing it with a hazy and haunting lyricism.
