Morjane Ténéré has a voice that transcends, captivates, and moves. The author, composer, and performer embodies a folk-blues music infused with pop and Andean sounds. In Tamasheq, the Tuareg language, "Ténéré" means desert. Morjane carries this name like a talisman, imbuing her compositions with a strong connection to nature, the elements, and animals. Rising to the challenge in 2019 to write a song a day for 100 days, she has composed over 1000 pieces to date. She has also traveled the world, giving more than 300 concerts in 10 countries, whether in legendary venues or unusual places like a lighthouse at the very end of Iceland or a squatted theater in Athens. Today, she presents her first EP, I Wish I Could Be an Angel, which explores universal love, human tragedies, and pays tribute to her ancestors. Sung in English and Spanish, this record straddles the line between the intimate and the universal, exemplified by the enchanting "How Can It Be," which delves into grief and memory. Here, an open-air room becomes the space of remembrance, and a sun-dancer embodies the lost loved one.
