When S Krysh Nashikh Domov (? ???? ????? ????? which can be translated as "From the Roofs of Our Houses"), the first album by Molchat Doma, was released in 2017, it announced the arrival of a bold new voice in underground music. The album, released on CD and cassette, found a passionate audience on Bandcamp and streaming services. Molchat Doma ("The Houses Are Silent"), founded in 2017 in Minsk, Belarus, sits at the intersection of post-punk, new wave, and synth-pop. Dark yet danceable, and with a strong dose of gothic ethos, their music recalls the masters who came before them, but don't be fooled: Molchat Doma creates a sound and a sensibility that are immediately recognizable as their own. The band consists of Egor Shkutko, who sings the lyrics in Russian in a deep monotone, Roman Komogortsev on guitar, synthesizers, and drum machine, and Pavel Kozlov on bass and synthesizers.
