MOGWAI sign their 8th album, The Hawk Is Howling, since the highly acclaimed Young Team released in 1997! Founded in 1996 by STUART BRAITHWAITE, somewhere between SONIC YOUTH and SLINT, the Glasgow band has embodied for over a decade the noisy dreams of a Europe envious of a fiery America. The Hawk Is Howling follows Mr Beast and the soundtrack composed for the film Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, both released in 2006. On this new album, Glasgow remains the band's preferred hunting ground, providing a constant source of inspiration – the sound of urban fracture, nights of despair, fights and love stories in tower blocks. Mostly instrumental and progressing from the calm of a tight-fisted dream towards the search for psychedelic ecstasy, MOGWAI's compositions are subject to thundering interpretations that give rise to a real tidal wave of feedback in concert. Usually described as post-rock, the quartet's music and albums also feature lengthy tracks approaching ten minutes, lost in dizzying Wagnerian ascensions. With The Hawk Is Howling, Mogwai once again undeniably asserts itself on the post-rock scene.
