MODERAT, the alliance of MODESELEKTOR (Gernot and Szary - Monkeytown, 50 Weapons) and APPARAT (Sascha Ring - Mute) returns to conclude the trilogy that began in 2009 on Bpitch Control with the first installment "Moderat" and continued with "II" released on Monkeytown in 2013. The group has been working together since their respective solo debuts and has, despite themselves, become their biggest project, both artistically and commercially. Initially, it was just a live project, and they never imagined going into the studio to record an album, let alone three! On the first album, it was truly the "frontal" meeting of their two worlds that we discovered, while the path taken since "II" and concluded on "III" is more about fusion, or even symbiosis, as Moderat has become a single, unified group. The strength of this 3rd album is that it brings together their songwriting talents with the power they develop live. From the first moments of "Eating Hooks," one feels immersed in the world of "Walls," definitively APPARAT's best album. Cottony melodies and sharp rhythms blend perfectly. "Running" sounds like Moderat at its peak, "Finder" is reminiscent of the UK post-Burial scene, with added pop appeal. As the album progresses, it becomes clear that the trio has delivered the masterpiece of their discography, notably with potential hits like "Ghostmother" or "Intruder" to name but a few. Film people say that contradiction creates credible characters: it is precisely contradiction that one finds in Moderat's music: fun but depth, joy but melancholy...
