With Always Centered At Night, MOBY returns accompanied by singers on every track. Such as Serpentwithfeet, Lady Blackbird, Brie O' Banion, or the poets Benjamin Zephaniah and Danaé Wellington. An album Moby wanted to be entirely collaborative. He composed and conceived the tracks as so many love letters to the late 70s/early 80s New York scene that shaped him as a musician. And he gave the singers the greatest creative freedom: “Please, don’t write anything commercial. Make it strange, make it personal. There’s no need for a rational meaning.” The result for Moby: “Because of this total and unpredictable freedom, I ended up being the vessel for so much brilliant creation. The result is one of the most exciting and surprising things I’ve done as a musician.”
