It is with great pleasure that All-Town Sound presents the debut album by Mitchum Yacoub, Living High in the Brass Empire - a showcase of unique styles of tropical funk, afrobeat, cumbia, and soul. A musical patchwork woven together by an intense and hypnotic rhythm section and powerful, vibrant horn lines. What sounds like a 12-piece ensemble was actually primarily recorded and performed by Mitchum Yacoub at his home in San Diego, with a few close friends from the bands Sure Fire Soul Ensemble and Boostive. The horn section features Travis Klein, Bradley Nash, and Wesley Etienne (with Todd Simon on "Los Muñequitos"), each delivering remarkable performances that elevate the music to new heights. The nuanced voice of Divina Jasso brings humanity and introspection to the soulful sounds of "Never Knew," the Latin dance anthem "Cumbia Divina," and the syncopated funk of "Empire."
