Description

Mission to the Sun synthesizes ambient and post-industrial landscapes with expansive arrangements and haunting vocals. The project consists of Christopher Samuels from Ritual Howls (synths, samples, programming) and Kirill Slavin (vocals). Their second album, Sophia Oscillations, is an immersive journey into the dark corners of post-industrial music. The Detroit-based duo continues the sonic exploration begun on their first album Cleansed by Fire, while delving deeper into themes of isolation and loss of communication. Christopher Samuels' synths, samples, and rhythmic programming are accentuated by Kirill Slavin's haunting voice, while the listener receives interspersed audio recordings from the far reaches of space. Throughout the album, Mission to the Sun masterfully weaves disparate sounds, creating a coherent whole that is both complex and emotionally charged.
