Description

The brother-sister duo, originally from Argentina and now split between London (Alicia) and Berlin (Francisco), recorded their album at the Impression studio in Berlin with producer Robbie Moore, who has also recently worked with artists like Florence and the Machine. Minimal Schlager started in 2020 during the pandemic and, although they were only allowed to perform at a few low-key shows, they decided to focus much of their energy on writing and recording. After being approached by Duchess Box Records when a mutual friend passed along some demos, they were quickly offered an album contract, but Minimal Schlager first released their debut EP Voodoo Eyes, which received some critical acclaim in international media. A minimalist sound reminiscent of Schlager, heavy on synthesizers and layered with dreamy vocal pop, would not be out of place on a David Lynch soundtrack with tracks like Forbidden Fruit and Before, but there are also club songs like Euphoria on the album, showcasing how dynamically written this album is.
