Released in April 1956, 'Miles': The New Miles Davis Quintet captures another mutation in Miles Davis' constantly evolving career.
Comprising the trumpeter, surrounded by John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and drummer Philly Joe Jones, Miles Davis' new quintet inaugurated its legend with a first recording consisting of standards by Duke Ellington ("Just Squeeze Me"), Benny Golson ("Stablemates"), and a composition by Miles, the vibrant "The Theme."
This re-issue is part of the "Original Jazz Classics" collection: audiophile-quality 180-gram vinyl with OBI (Japanese-style belly band), mastered from the original analog tapes, with original cover art and liner notes.
