A new chapter, a new line-up, a new sound: The Miki Berenyi Trio’s debut album, Tripla, is a landmark record for its three creators: Miki Berenyi (ex-Lush singer/guitarist), KJ ‘Moose’ Mackillop and Oliver Cherer. The album’s richly layered, imaginative and unique brand of dream pop is an often euphoric, sometimes melancholic blend of guitars and electronics, carried by Miki’s instantly recognisable voice, superimposing an often profound, sometimes abrasive or nostalgic view of the world. When the global pandemic made touring impossible, Miki spent the lockdown months writing her memoir, “Fingers Crossed”, which was published in 2022 to widespread acclaim. The Miki Berenyi Trio was formed to provide musical accompaniment for the series of events and book signings surrounding the book’s release. The band developed a dynamic of its own, touring with The Wedding Present and Gang of Four, and performing to sold-out shows in London co-headlining with Aircooled.
