Pianist Mike Nock, born in New Zealand, made a significant contribution to the new jazz movement in the late 1960s with the electric group The Fourth Way. On Ondas, he leads an acoustic piano trio with a skilled bassist and a free-spirited drummer. Nock's very open compositions leave plenty of room for each musician to shine. Eddie Gomez's supple double bass often serves as a second main voice, and Jon Christensen's rhythms are felt like a succession of waves.
