In addition to the critically acclaimed album Midnight Rocker, here is the Dub version by Adrian Sherwood from the original sessions. It contains new tracks, dancehall covers with interjections from Daddy Freddy and Lone Ranger, and instrumental excursions in the classic reggae dub style.
Continuing the series started by Sherwood with "Heavy Rain," his reinterpretation of the album "Rainford" by Lee "Scratch" Perry, Midnight Scorchers is both an essential sequel to Midnight Rocker and a powerful album in its own right.
"Last April, Midnight Rocker, an album by Horace Andy, a Jamaican singer with a unique vocal vibrato known for his collaborations with Massive Attack, was released on On-U Sound, Adrian Sherwood's label. Today, Midnight Scorchers, the "sound system" version of the aforementioned album. The copy is thoroughly revised, and for the better. Remixed, reorchestrated, the songs appear in a much brighter light, like Dirty Money Business, now adorned with soaring brass and boosted by the flow of MC Daddy Freddy.
