Looking at sounds
Description
The double bassist Michel Benita has long been one of the pillars of the French jazz scene. He presents here his new quartet, composed of Swiss bugler Matthieu Michel and French drummer Philippe Garcia, already present in his previous orchestra Ethics, and Belgian keyboardist Jozef Dumoulin. The colors and floating, swirling sounds that Dumoulin is the only one to draw today from his Fender Rhodes inspired Benita's desire to write radically new music for this formation. In addition to his original compositions, Benita has included in the repertoire an enchanting cover of Antônio Carlos Jobim's song "Inutil Paisagem," a completely free improvisation that gives its title to the album, and an emotional interpretation on solo double bass of Jule Styne's theme "Never Never Land." Looking At Sounds was recorded at Studios La Buissonne in the south of France in March 2019.Buy Looking at sounds at the best price
