Three years after the magnificent "Thrill Box," recorded in trio with Michel Benita on double bass, Vincent Peirani and Michael Wollny meet face to face to revive the popular music that has accompanied them, but also to create new compositions for four hands. These two young, multi-award-winning artists are now recognized internationally. With an unbridled and abundant creativity that seems limitless, they draw from their shared passion for folk, but not only! Some incursions into the classical repertoire are emerging. Considered a leader of the young German jazz scene, pianist Michael Wollny has been acclaimed solo, in duo (with Heinz Sauer or Joachim Kühn), and of course, in trio. A romantic and lyrical virtuoso, a master of improvisation, Michael Wollny is already being compared by the press to the greatest. Thus, the weekly Télérama specifies that he "is in the prestigious lineage of Paul Bley, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Brad Mehldau, Esbjörn Svensson, Stefano Bollani." His previous album "Weltentraum" reached the TOP 20 jazz in France for several weeks, a first for a young German musician! A rising star of European jazz, Vincent Peirani was awarded at the Victoires du Jazz for two consecutive years: in 2014 as revelation of the year, and then in 2015 as artist of the year. He also won the Django Reinhardt prize awarded by the Académie du jazz as well as several Echo Jazz awards in Germany. Over the years and through his numerous collaborations (Youn Sun Nah, Richard Bona, Michel Portal, Daniel Humair, Sanseverino, François Salque, Stromae, etc.), his versatility and mastery of different musical languages have established him as one of the most accomplished and innovative musicians, performers, improvisers, and composers. We have already heard Vincent Peirani in a duo with his loyal partner and friend Emile Parisien, for the album "Belle époque" (ACT), which has now sold over 8,000 copies in France. There is no doubt that Peirani and Wollny will also surprise us in this art of the duo, where writing and improvisation intertwine around an inspired and constantly renewed conversation.
