After the success of her album “Music Life”, Mia Doi Todd returns with a collection of exceptional remixes titled “Ten Views of Music Life”. Described by Dusted Magazine as “an artist who seems not only to create in her own right, but also to weave connections between other musicians”, Mia did not have to look far to find internationally renowned artists to remix her tracks. The diversity of this collection is also its strength. Despite the variety of styles used, the project remains cohesive and creates the impression of a magical universe, carried by the purity of Mia’s vocal expression. Her vocals and other elements from the original tracks on “Music Life” are wrapped in new soundscapes: from Dntel’s offbeat electro-pop to the introspective and moving orchestrations of Julia Holter and Tashi Wada, via the unmistakable and free disco-boogie touch of Georgia Anne Muldrow. There is an afrobeat contribution from the Los Angeles group Jungle Fire and a cinematic kaleidoscope from Carlos Nino & Friends, with Jamael Dean and Sharada Shashidhar. Brazilian producer Kassin revisits Mia’s version of Gregory Isaacs’ classic, “If I Don’t Have You”, in an original way. The arrangement of “Take Me to the Mountain”, at once melancholic and full of hope, by Vardan Ovsepian, explores the album’s sonic twists and turns, sublimating Mia’s rich voice with subtle reharmonizations.
