II

Description

With their latest album, II, METZ deliver their most sincere music and their purest form yet. The guitars are incredible. The drums are unrestrained. The vocals give us chills. The novelty lies in the instruments the band doesn’t usually use: baritone guitar, piano, synthesizers, outside sounds. From the invigorating “Spit You Out” to the very vigorous “Landfill,” this is an album that is “much heavier, darker and more neglected,” as Alex Edkins, the band’s frontman, describes it. II is a blend of ferocity and abrasiveness that we rarely get the chance to hear these days.
