A journey through time via METZ’s little-known compositions. METZ, the famous punk band made up of three Toronto musicians, released their self-titled debut album on Sub Pop in 2012 and, since then, has cemented its reputation as one of the most exhilarating live bands on the planet and the most reliable purveyor of outsider rock. The band is made up of Alex Edkins, Hayden Menzies, and Chris Slorach. Automat is a collection of METZ singles, B-sides, and rarities dating from 2009, available on LP for the first time, including early recordings that have long been unavailable. All of Automat’s tracks have been lovingly remastered by Matthew Barnhart at Chicago Mastering Service. The Automat vinyl includes a bonus 7'' featuring three additional tracks: a cover of Sparklehorse’s "Pig," taken from a split 45 released in a very limited edition on Sonic Boom in 2012 for Record Store Day in Toronto; "I'm a Bug," a cover of the Urinals’ classic art-punk track, released on YouTube (not a real record label) in 2014; and METZ’s unreleased version of Gary Numan’s "M.E."
