What Heat

Description

An atypical instrumentation that blends the sounds of blues and Caribbean kaladja, a diverse ensemble rich in melody and groove. The multi-cultural and multi-generational group Bokanté, singing primarily in Creole, teams up with the Metropole Orkest for a new album, "What Heat." The themes addressed by the group are socio-political, such as the effect of political decisions on everyday life, and in the context of current global events like immigration. Through this album, Bokanté, surrounded by the Metropole Orkest, blends the roots of blues, African, and American music, drawing from many different styles to deliver a multicultural record. The music and some of the melodies were written by League and experimented with on stage while he was touring with his other bands. He then sent them to Malika Tirolien so she could write the lyrics and explore other melodies. It was through this cross-pollination that everything began. Until the first day of recording, most of the musicians had never met. FOR THOSE WHO LIKE Cory Henry, Spike Jones, FKA twigs
